Dinsdale was called Frankton West until July 1961, when it was renamed after Thomas Dinsdale, and the suburb grew rapidly through that decade. Aberdeen School followed in the mid-1970s. A roof put on during those years has now faced more than half a century of Waikato rain, sun and frost.
Roofs of that age tend to fail in predictable places. Concrete tiles lose their surface coating and start to hold moss, ridge bedding cracks and lets water track under the caps, and older steel roofs rust first around nail holes and laps. Most of these faults can be repaired if they are found before the timber underneath gets wet for too long. Left alone, they spread from one tile or one lap to a whole roof face.
Our approach in Dinsdale is to inspect first and price second. We walk the roof, check the ceiling space where there is access, photograph what we find and set out a written quote covering repair, partial replacement or a full re-roof. It is the same method used for our wider Hamilton roofing service, applied to the roofs Dinsdale actually has.
